The 2006  Emmy awards aired Sunday night on NBC and featured a number of stunning celebrities dressed from head-to-toe in designer pieces. From gowns and shoes to handbags and jewelry, the celebrities were dressed to impress. Some of the actresses taking home awards for best dressed of the night include Tyra Banks, Vanessa Manillo and Evangeline Lilly have all been recognized as the best dressed females of the night.

Purple was, by far, the most popular color of the night and Evangeline Lilly was absolutely breathtaking in a deep purple, strapless Versace gown. She completed her look with platinum, diamond and emerald jewels by Neil Lane.

Tyra Banks, one of the most talked about celebrities of the night, was wearing a $50,000 dollar black Georges Chakra mermaid gown. The off-the-shoulder dress was accessorized with over 3.5 million dollars worth of jewelry.

Vanessa Minnillo looked absolutely gorgeous in a bright blue embroidered taffeta dress with jeweled detailing. The curve-hugging dress has received mixed opinions from audiences and fashion critics but it a sure hit in my opinion. The sky blue dress hugs Vanessa's luscious curves in all the right places.

Not everyone can land themselves a spot on the Emmy's best dressed list. Some of the gorgeous women who deserve an honorable mention include Katherine Heigl, Debra Messing, Kyra Sedgwick  and Sarah Chalke.
