David Beckham made world news this morning when he announced he will be leaving the Real Madrid soccer team to move to LA and play for the LA Galaxy soccer team. While many reports claimed that Becks had signed a 250 million dollar deal to play soccer in the United States, the real truth has began to surface.

250 million dollars seems like a pretty steep price for 5 years on the soccer field but apparently that's not the case. Reports claim that Beckham is being paid 50 million dollars over 5 years for playing soccer and the rest is related to endorsement deals. Beckham has endorsement contracts with high profile brands like Adidas, Gillett and Pepsi which are all reasons why he was paid so much to move to the US.

According to SI.com, Beckham is getting 250 million dollars over 5 years for "the Beckham Brand" which includes his wife Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice). Sources say that Beckham can make a huge difference in North American Soccer and his brandable image will attract attention to the sport.
