We can't say we haven't known for a while now but Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz have officially announced their breakup. While the two highly profiled celebrities did their best to keep their relationship out of the public eye, they felt it was in their best interest to officially announce the split. Diaz and Timberlake were very professional when it came to the joint statement that was released by Cameron's spokesperson, Brad Cafarelli, on Thursday.

"It has always been our preference not to comment on the status of our relationship, but out of respect for the time we've spent together, we feel compelled to do so now, in light of recent speculation and the number of inaccurate stories that are being reported by the media" said Cafarelli on behalf of Diaz and Timberlake, who had been dating just over 3 and a half years at the time of the split.

The two finish their statement by saying "We have, in fact, ended our romantic relationship, and have done so mutually, as friends, with continued love and respect for one another".

Speculation that Timberlake might be hooking up with Scarlett Johansson began surfacing about a week and a half ago when they were seen together at an LA nightclub. Both Justin and Scarlett's reps have yet to comment on the potential relationship of the two celebrities which means it's probably just a rumor - at least for now.

Rumors also generated that Justin Timberlake and Kate Hudson had a one night 'fling' on New Year's Eve when Justin attended Kate's New Year's Eve party. While Kate recently divorced from husband Chris Robinson and boyfriend Owen Wilson, the two had the perfect opportunity for a 'no strings attached hookup'. Again, Justin and Kate's reps have either not commented or denied the story.

Personally, I like Justin and Cameron together. They both seemed like fun, outgoing people who just enjoy life all the time. I guess I'll have to agree with Justin when he says "sometimes love isn't easy" - especially in Hollywood I bet. After all, Justin and Cameron are just one of the few couples who called it quits in the last year.
