Worst Dressed at the Oscars

While the sole purpose of the Annual Academy Awards is to honor the best actors and actresses in the movie industry, I feel it is my duty to honor the best and the worst actors and actresses when it comes to fashion. While there were some huge hits on the red carpet this year, not everyone was dazzling at last night’s event. In fact, some of the actresses chose downright ugly dresses that I wouldn’t choose to wear if somebody paid me.

So here are my top 3 picks when it comes to the worst dressed celebrities from the 2007 Oscars:

#1. Kirsten Dunst

I can’t say I’ve ever been a fan of the clothes Kirsten Dunst chooses to wear but seeing the disaster of a dress she wore to last night’s event just solidifies my hate for her fashion choices. Not only does her dress look like it belongs on an 80 year old fashion victim but her hair and makeup don’t even remotely match the look of the dress. The straight bangs and bright red lipstick combined with the pale color of her dress make her look more like she dressing for Halloween than one of the industry’s most glamorous events. Needless to say, Kirsten is my top choice for worst dressed of the night.

#2. Jennifer Hudson

While I think Jennifer Hudson is an absolute doll and I was pulling for her to take home the Oscar, her choice of clothing last night was less than impressive. In J-Hud’s fairness, the dress itself wasn’t that bad – it was that horrid crop, metallic jacket that she threw on overtop that made the outfit a complete disaster. Why is it that the more famous people get the weirder their fashion choices become. This dress was a definite flop, especially compared to the nice dress Jen wore to the Golden Globe Awards last month.

3. Gwyneth Paltrow

I’m sure I will receive a ton of negative comments for putting Gwyneth Paltrow on the worst dressed list but I couldn’t bring myself to leave her off. The floor length gown by Zac Posen is unflattering on Gwyneth’s petite figure and the color is extremely unflattering with Gwyneth’s pale skin tone. For these reasons, Gwen rounded out my top three for worst dressed of the Oscars.

Other honorable mentions when it comes to worst dressed of the night include Nicole Kidman who wore a floor-length red gown with a horrendously large bow near the collar, Kelly Preston who normally looks stunning but chose to wear an unflattering leopard print Dolce & Gabbana dress (so not classy, Kelly) and Anne Hathaway who apparently learned nothing about fashion from her movie “The Devil Wears Prada”. Hopefully these ladies can step it up next year and actually wear something relatively red carpet worthy – we’ll see.

Now that you’ve seen my choices for worst dressed of the night, why not take an uplifting look at some of my choices for best dressed of the night.

I'm sorry but Kirsten and Gwyneth were two of my favorite gowns of the evening (with Maggie Gyllenhall rounding out the top three).

Last night's Annual Oscar Awards were somewhat surprising to many viewers. While I've heard many people complaining that the event was an overall disappointment, from the red carpet fashion to the winners and losers of the most prestigious trophies in
