Sanjaya Malakar has officially become the most talked about American Idol contestant to ever grace the stage of the show. Whether it's the somewhat creepy way he looks into the camera or his ear-to-ear grin, there's something about this 17 year old boy that has caught the attention of millions of people all over the world. Since nearly the beginning of this year's American Idol season, judge Simon Cowell has been less than impressed with Sanjaya's performances, even making comments stating he would quit the show if Sanjaya won. But in a shocking turn of events, last night's Latin theme inspired something in Sanjaya that even Simon couldn't forget. Could it be that Sanjaya Malakar may have won over Simon Cowell?
After Sanjaya's slow (somewhat boring) performance in last night's show, Randy and Paula gave Sanjaya 'props' for a great performance. After anxiously awaiting for Simon's always-negative comments, Sanjaya was pleasantly surprised when Cowell admitted that he 'wasn't horrible' during last night's show. Throughout the whole ordeal after the "welcome to the universe of Sanjaya" comment last week, there was one thing we could always count on: Simon's smart aleck comments to keep Sanjaya's ego in tact. But, after last night's comments from Cowell himself, it's beginning to look more and more likely that Sanjaya may actually win the entire show.
If Sanjaya made it to the final two, would you like to see him win? Do you think Sanjaya has what it takes to be the next American Idol or do you think that this is the biggest publicity stunt in the history of American Idol? I'll leave it up to you to decide.
