Sanjaya Malakar - One Step Closer to American Idol Title

Sanjaya Malakar shocked the judges and impressed millions of fans all over the world last night as he made it into the final 7 of this season’s American Idol. The 17 year old boy with a huge heart and unforgettable hair has had everyone talking since he stepped foot on the audition stage at the very beginning of the show. For every viewer that feels as though Malakar is less than worthy of the American Idol title there are thousands cheering him on. And while Howard Stern is doing his best to assure viewers that he’s the only reason why Sanjaya has made it this far, there are millions of true fans who know otherwise.

Perhaps the reason that Sanjaya is in the top 7 isn’t because of his amazing vocal chords or the ability to hit the high notes. Perhaps it’s because of his energetic spirit that has the ability to make almost everyone smile. And regardless of whether you love him or hate him, you love to watch him. And there will be millions of viewers tuning in next week to see whether or not the ‘phenomenon that is Sanjaya’ can make it through another week.

*** Check out our exclusive “Sanjaya Malakar’s Greatest Moments on American Idol” video. This truly touching video will inspire you to believe that you can do anything – after all, Sanjaya is living proof.

I hope he wins! I think he's so fun to watch and this season of American Idol would suck without him!

I don't understand why Sanjaya is so happy about still being in the competition if I were in his shoes I would have stepped out weeks ago.  He should be embarassed that he hasn't benn voted out yet because its a joke that hes still there.  It is still a singing competition not just a popularity contest.  Sanjaya and "his fans" are living in a world of make believe to think that even if he does win that he will end up being a star.  Who would waste their money on an album of someone who is only an average singer at best.  Doesn't he feel bad that really great singers like Gina who could really have a chance at being a top selling artist are being let go and hes only there because of his hair and Howard Stern! Isn't it time for him to move out of the way?  What happens when M elinda or Lakisha are gone and he's still there? Gimme a break.  They should have some sort of judges overriding rule for when the public voting gets out of hand.

I have loved this show from the very beginning,  but I stopped watching it this season.  It's become a joke.  Apparently talent has nothing to do with it anymore.  Some people are feeling sorry for Sanjaya but he's still up there.  What about the ones that should still be up there?  Sorry--- but American Idol has definitely lost MY vote.  See ya!!!!!!!!

Bashing Sanjaya has gone on to iconic proportion. I feel Americans are racist and cannot accept someone who is not like them to rise to the top.If you look at their history they never had a women or black president while many countries in Asia have voted to women president and prime minister. How else can you explain so much hatred towards a boy whose fault is to participate in a singing competition and get selected and moving up the rank.

Sanjaya is terrific. He's got it all -- talent (just listen to the damned mp3's, would ya?!), looks, charm, personality, stick-with-it-iveness, and millions of adoring fans. Like me.

LOL, on "shocked" saying he should step down.  OMG, funny.  I love Gina, but let's face it.  If she went home last week then she was low on votes to begin with.  Sanjaya is just ONE person who uses up one position.  That means the longest she could have stays would be one more position if he were not there.  Sanjaya doesn't cause anyone to go home.  The idol MUST get votes to stay..  IT's as simple as that.

Also the vote for the worst thing is nothing more than a clever publicity stunt by the sites owner and by Stern.  It scares people into thinking they are powerful, when they have a 95% failure rate.  In fact it's 100% because they are only guessing who might stay and then when they stay they take credit for it which is lame.

Sanjay is mesmerizing- there is sth abt that boy. I started watching youtube clips after I read somewhere about all these bashings going on for Sanjaya. I think he is targetted coz he has Indian root. Even Sterm claiming that all Indians from call-centers are voting for Sanjaya is a racial remark. Stern is just trying to make it big using Sanjaya's name.

Poor kid might not be as talented as others. But he mesmerizes people. Even JLo was fascinated by him. He definetely has sth....

Hope he wins and succeed him making all these racist Americans quiet.

I'm so pleased to read a positive blog about the wonderful Sanjaya.  He's a sweet, talented handsome boy and I'm a fan.  And I'm no teenie bopper.

I love his spirit. And his singing.  And with all the garbage that's been thrown at him - his amazing courage.

Sanjaya has got great talents !  He deserves to be an American Idol.

Sanjaya is unique and he doesn't copy anyone.  May be this is the reason for some people to think that he doesn't belong here.  But the fact is, most people like him and they vote for him.  He doesn't stay there magically.  It is people who like him and vote for him.

All the best Sanjaya !

I think it is ridiculous that people are criticizing him the way they do. I definitely do not think that he does not have the best vocals. But that is not the point. Like it or not, America is voting for him. If anyone is to blame, it is people who are not voting for those they believe in. If you believe in someone, you vote for them. Probably that's why he is still up there... for better or worse... cause some believes in him or wants to prove a point. Both ways, people are doing something about what they believe in which is more than I can say for people who complain and don't vote.

Anyway, he does prove another point. Do the best with what life throws at you. If people throw lemons at you, make leomanade.

I think it is time people leave the kid alone. The only place to look is in the mirror.
