Barbara Walters Feels Interviewing Paris Hilton is 'Beneath Her'

The fact that Paris Hilton chose to do her first post-jail interview with Larry King had many people wondering how and why she would choose Larry - for free none the less. But after Barbara Walter's released a statement to Cindy Adams on why she refused to interview Paris Hilton, everything became clear. Not as many interviewers were vying for the high profile interview as we originally thought. And while many believed that it was Hilton's choice to do Larry King Live as opposed to Barbara Walters, that was simply not the case.

Barbara released a very interesting statement to Cindy Adams, claiming that interviewing Paris was simply not of interest to her and, despite ABC pressing for the position, she simply refused to do the interview. Here's what Barbara had to say about the whole situation:

“Look, I’ve done prison interviews before, but people like the Menendez Brothers were really important news stories. This wasn’t. And even though I’d already written my questions, when all that pay-for-play stuff happened, I suddenly felt this was not up to my standard. It felt sort of tawdry. The whole thing somehow was beneath me. Besides, it was a no-win. If I did a tough piece and her tears started to flow, it would be, ‘Oh, there’s Barbara Walters making people cry again.’ Too soft, and I’d be criticized. [ABC] they wanted it. For them it was ratings. For me it was respect. I’m fortunately at a point in my life where I can choose what I want, and this was solely my decision. But I must tell you how classy ABC was. They didn’t try to force me or say they’d place it on Nightline, or give it to someone else to do or any of the things they could have done. They respected my decision and walked away. Some agreed with my decision, some didn’t. For me it was just a question of respect.”

I guess the interview Barbara had when Paris was in jail was enough. Even Barbara Walters has had enough of this story.

Interviewing Paris Hilton is beneath Barbara Walters?????Is that the same Barbara Walters that kept a war of word between Rosie and Trump going for months and the same Barbara Walters that runs the View where mostly silliness is discussed?

Any reporter worth a dime would be itching to do the real story here.  the real story is about how INJUSTICE FOR ONE IS INJUSTICE FOR ALL.

Paris was caught driving on a suspended license while not drunk.  Her license had been suspended for "alcohol related reckless driving".  NO ONE IN THE SAME SITUATION AS PARIS HAS SERVED MORE THAN 4 DAYS.  MOST SIMPLY HAD MORE TIME ADDED TO THE SUSPENSION OR DID COMMUNITY SERVICE.

The case of Paris Hilton went the way it did because a judge wanted his 10 minutes of fame and a prosecutor thought he could use the Paris paparazzi to help with his next political office campaign.   As we all know, the prosecutors wife was driving on a suspended license for more than a year (They claim that they did not know but it was suspended before her marriage and therfore someone had to have pulled strings for her new name to appear on her new license without noting the suspension)  and both prosecutor and his wife were driving without auto insurance.   For the record, if you were hit by Paris when she drove on her suspended license, she was covered by auto insurance...the prosecutor and his wife were not covered by auto insurance and you would have had to go to court to have your damages paid by them.

While these two men played their games with Paris and media, people convicted of more serious crimes were being released early because a bed was needed for Paris.  For example:  Soraya Lopez was convicted of a misdemeanor on 6/11/07 , sentenced to 13 days and convicted of a felony on 6/13/07 sentence 45 days...Lopez was released on 6/14/2007....less than 1 day served on a felony conviction.

The Paris Hilton interview should be done by someone like Greta "On the Record" as I believe that she has the intelligence to cover the real story here....As for Barbara...she can not handle the real story here because the real story is not "tawdry".  In fact the real story is obviously over Barbara'a head.

A FAN OF JUSTICE

This story of INJUSTICE is over Barbara Walters head.  It involves more than what designer dress Paris is wearing, how she's outgrown the "dumb act" and which colors she prefers therefore the story is too complicated for Babs.

This story requires a top defense lawyer to explain why injustice for one is injustice for all.  Paris was railroaded by a judge looking for fame and a prosecutor guilty of driving without auto insurance for more than a year and allowing his wife to drive on a suspended license for more than a year.

Paris should have been given community service or a longer license suspension.  If anyone had served more than 4 days for the same crime they would be on TV telling us all.  No one did and that's why we have not heard anyone say they served 23 days for the same conviction.

The real question may be how many felons were released early so that the jail would have a bed for Paris?  EX: Soraya Lopez convicted of a felony on 6/13/07 sentenced 45 days and released on 6/14/07.  Served one day of the 45 day sentence so that we would have a bed for Paris.

It is sad to see how many Americans do not believe in Justice for all.  If we hold all people convicted of driving on suspended license while on probation, then many will loose their homes while serving 23 days without pay...but that seems to be what the vocal minority wants.

Lets remember that most people to not publicly compare themselves to Princess Diana and a stellar role model for young people. That kind of sel-apponted responsiblity is just that, responsibility. What is all of the Paris-sites of the world (and frankly the people who think anything of her a several fries shy of a happy meal to begin with) thaought it was "hot" or no big to cruise around drunk. She brought all of this on her extended little head.
