Nicole Richie Talks about Her Weight, Drugs and Being a Role Model

Over the past few years we've seen a new (and improved) Nicole Richie. She's no longer the mouthy, disrespectful girl we saw on the first season of "The Simple Life" - she grown and matured and even admitted to many of her mistakes. In an exclusive interview with Nylon Magazine, Nicole talks openly about being super skinny, doing drugs and how she feels about being a role model for young kids.

One of Richie's most shocking statements in the interview was in response to her fame. When asked about how she got famous and what exactly she's famous for, Richie agreed with the majority of the public, stating "I don't have a clue why I am famous either". At least she's willing to admit it. And when asked about being a role model for the younger generations, Nicole simply said "I don’t walk around pretending that I’m perfect, so I don’t think anyone should hold me to that. The dangerous thing is that there are 16, 17, 18-year-olds that people consider to be role models. I’m so happy I wasn’t famous back then. You’d think I was the f**king devil.”

One of the other big issues that has Nicole in the limelight is her weight. Nicole used to weigh over 150 pounds but recently dropped in weight and was reported to weigh as little as 80 pounds. It didn't take long for Nicole's pictures to swarm the media. Newspapers, magazines and television shows were all featuring photos of Nicole's super-skinny frame with headlines like "Nicole Richie is Anorexic" and "Nicole Richie Needs to Eat Something". But Nicole had a few words to say about the subject as well: “It’s really sad how obsessed America is with weight. It’s sick. I’ve never gone a day without putting food in my mouth. I’ve never sewn my mouth shut. I’ve never gone on a liquid diet. So I want to know why I’m the face for a problem.”

And when asked about how she feels about heroin, Nicole replied with a somewhat confusing statement claiming "When I pictured heroin, I pictured some crazy crackhead with no shoes under a bridge. You never think that is going to be you. And it never was me. I was never under a bridge, and I always had shoes."
