Victoria and David Beckham’s sweet British charm and unbelievable good looks (otherwise known as 'the Beckham Brand') is starting to feel more like a virus than a love affair. Feeling nauseous? Light-headed? Maybe you’re suffering Beckham Overload, which is spreading faster than West Nile virus on a well-oiled SoCal beach.
Just yesterday, David Beckham graced yet another cover – ESPN. And between Becks and Posh, the couple’s flashy smiles have infiltrated such a wide range of magazines – from W Magazine to Sports Illustrated – that we’re wondering what gives with all this attention.
But apparently this viral addiction isn’t as innocent as being coughed on by a sick co-worker. Victoria and David ramped their North American publicity epidemic into full force over the past few months in preparation for their much anticipated move. Victoria even launched her own one hour special on Monday night, "Victoria Beckham's Coming to America" which pulled in nearly 4 million viewers.
But where is all this publicity going? Are we going to be Beckhamized to death?
The couple is hoping that North American paparazzi won't be as aggressive as the British. Have they never seen the National Enquirer? Don’t they understand that we don’t just want to know where they went for dinner, but what they ate, what they talked about, who left the table in a huff?
Victoria and David seem to think that there are far too many hot Hollywood celebrities who will take the spotlight from them - at least that's what they're hoping. But Victoria underestimates the power of her attraction. Just yesterday she was overheard saying American women are “scruffy.”
Uh, there’s only one thing more dangerous than a beautiful celebrity – a beautiful celebrity who gives her fans a reason to turn ugly – pardon the pun.
If you ask me, this beautiful British couple is here to stay. Have you had your shots?
