As most of us expected, it wasn’t hours of working out and eating healthy that helped Star Jones shrink down from size 26 to six in just three years.
After years of denying that her 160-pound weight loss was the result of surgery, Star has decided to open up and speak the truth.
The 45-year-old former co-host of “The View” now admits she underwent gastric bypass surgery to help lose the excess weight she’d been carrying around. She also admitted to lying about it for the past three years.
The revelation is featured in the September issue of Glamour Magazine, where Star took the time to write a personal essay on the trials and tribulations she’s experienced since her massive weight loss.
The essay dissects a number of hot topics associated with Star’s life, including why she left “The View,” the rumors of a divorce between her and her husband and, of course, the truth behind her highly publicized weight loss.
In the issue, Star also reveals the real reason why she lied about having surgery in the first place.
“The complete truth is, I was scared of what people might think of me,” she admits.
“I had spent my entire adult life telling everyone that I was fine with the way I looked. I never thought I'd have to explain it.”
Star insists she’s happy and healthy and is relieved to have the “weight” lifted from her shoulders.
After much encouragement from her husband and her fans, Star is certain that coming out about her surgery was the right thing to do.
