In light of Jamie Lynn Spears getting her GED, we've set up a showdown between her and big sis Britney to see which Spears spawn has the most brains.
Make no mistake, there won’t be any reading, writing or ’rithmetic here – instead of the three Rs, we’ve got the three Ps of what it really takes to make it in Hollywood.
Round One – Paparazzi
Both of the Spears sisters have seen their share of scandal, so let’s look at how each of them handles their press time.
Jamie Lynn: When the spotlight was pointed on Jamie Lynn for her pregnancy at the age of 16, the young star took a step back from the spotlight to avoid the feeding frenzy and to take some time to focus on her impending parenthood.
Britney: Lately, we’ve seen Britney in the press for everything from flashing her unmentionables to shaving her head, all while unleashing expletives and rude hand gestures while adopting a phony British accent. Perhaps not the most decorous way to handle an invasion from the press?
Round one goes to Jamie Lynn.
Round Two – Parenting
One with a baby on the way and the other with two babies on the way to living permanently with Daddy. Let’s take a look at the how each of the Spears girls is handling being a baby momma in the public eye.
Jamie Lynn: Although she loses points for starting her family much younger than Britney, Jamie Lynn is showing signs of maturity by staying out of the spotlight and keeping her pregnancy private, while still attempting to better herself through further education.
Britney: Whether it’s being driven around illegally, or their involvement in custody hearings and police standoffs, Britney’s boys have a battle ahead of them when it comes to dear old Mom. While we can’t say she doesn’t love them, many of Britney’s parenting skills leave a lot to be desired.
We have to call round two a draw – although it’s doubtful Jamie Lynn will follow in her sister’s parenting footsteps, we won’t know till the baby’s here whether little sis’ little one will end up next to Sean and Jayden in therapy.
Round Three – PDAs
No battle would be complete unless we played the love card. Celebrity relationships are always under scrutiny, so which Spears sister has better sense when it comes to romance?
Jamie Lynn: As far as we can tell, Jamie Lynn has only been tied to one significant other, so bonus points for being exclusive. And yet, he’s 19 which means there could have been a world of legal trouble for the two when news of Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy leaked out. Minus some serious statutory points.
Britney: Two very public failed marriages and a less than savory connection with paparazzo boyfriend Adnan Ghalib. Oh Britney, why couldn’t you have stayed with Justin and lived happily ever after?
For sticking with the one that brung ya, we give round three to Jamie Lynn.
That’s it folks, and it appears Jamie Lynn Spears has trumped her sister in the Battle of the Brains. But at just 16, there’s still plenty of opportunity for little sis to match the antics of dear, sweet, troubled Britney. Only time will tell if we need a rematch!
