The daughter of the King is expecting a little prince or princess, but there’s no joy in the kingdom just yet.
On her MySpace blog, Lisa Marie Presley got vocal about how she feels the press forced her to publicly acknowledge her pregnancy before she was ready, through vicious attacks about her “expanding physique.”
“After being the target all week of slanderous and degrading stories, horribly manipulated pictures and articles in the media, I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am in fact pregnant,” the 40-year-old singer said, on her third pregnancy (first with musician husband Michael Lockwood).
Frankly, we can’t blame Lisa Marie for taking a bite out of the press – it didn’t feel nice to be called fat on the school yard, and it sure doesn’t get any better when you’re a celeb whose slightest body change leaves you vulnerable to the tabloids.
We’re wondering though, why did the snark-meter go off so high on Lisa Marie, when Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez, just to name a few, have all had their celebrity baby bumps welcomed with open arms? Do you have to be mainstream camera-candy to have your pregnancy celebrated in Hollywood?
At any rate, the news of the pregnancy is out, so all the haters can just stuff the “too many fried peanut butter and banana sandwich” jokes. Why not be happy for Lisa Marie? Remember, she’s got pregnancy hormones happening, and clearly she knows how to use them.
