No, that’s not some prank-calling pervert you’re listening to – it’s just Britney Spears heavy-breathing her way through the third release from her 2007 album
Blackout, entitled “Break The Ice” (which you can watch on
TheSuperficial.com).
While the track itself is certainly nothing to write home about (oh how we’re begging Brit to hit us baby, one more time with something that doesn’t make us regret having ears or too much time on our hands), the video could actually be the saving grace of this single.
Made in South Korea and said to be based on Britney’s own ideas, “Break the Ice” is done entirely in Japanese anime. It depicts a cartoon, black-leather-clad, bad-ass Britney wreaking all kinds of havoc in the big city, and is reminiscent of the “Toxic” video, which we love – it reminds us of the glory days when Britney actually was a black-leather-clad bad-ass and both she and her tracks were smokin’ hot.
Personally, we think animated Britney kicks way more ass than real Britney these days – cartoon Britney has no struggling dance moves and glazed-over eyes, no fashion disaster ensembles and no fake British accent to make us feel bad about how things have turned out for our favorite pop-tart. We say keep up with the anime vids Brit, at least until you get in a few more sessions with the kiddies at the Millenium Dance Complex.
And when you’re feeling better, come back to us Britney, because we miss you – there’s a pre-recorded “Toxic” track and a diamond-encrusted bodysuit with your name on it.
