Grand Theft Auto IV Release: Where's The Celebrity Hook? Where is Seth Green!

Grand Theft AutoYou’d have to be a 90-year-old granny who had her purse snatched by a hoodlum not to know about the release of Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto IV, the latest installment in its wildly successful and morally controversial Grand Theft Auto video game franchise.

Now it’s not like we’re gamers ourselves, though we do spend a good chunk of time riding shotgun on the couch with our boyfriends, doling out eye-rolling support while we file our nails and read Miley Cyrus magazine articles – “Yes honey, you really did kick that cop’s a---, good for you!”

But at least in the past when we were doing our GTA girlfriendly duty, we had the option of passing the time by playing Name That Celebrity Voice for all the video game characters. (Sidenote: If you've recognized any celeb video game voices, post 'em here. We love it!)

Prior installments in the series, which include Grand Theft Auto, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City gave us all kinds of celeb-guessing opportunity – Samuel L. Jackson as Officer Frank Tenpenny, scare-chick Fairuza Balk as the wayward Mercedes Cortez and our personal favorite, Jenna Jameson as prostitute and aspiring porn star Candy Suxxx. Even Star Trek nerd Wil Wheaton made a vocal contribution. (And we’re embarrassed to say he’s the first one we spotted! We loved Wesley Crusher!)

Well not so this time around, it’s rumored. Although GTA IV won’t be released until next Tuesday (April 29th), it’s already getting rave reviews and fan support. But even hardcore gamers have noticed the lack of details on celebrity voice contributions, and are speculating that maybe the studio cheaped out.

While the star-talent deficiency may not change anything for the game’s players, it sure does make the time spent in the passenger seat a lot less interesting. When it comes time for Grand Theft Auto V, we recommend Rockstar Games throw the ladies a little sumpin’ sumpin’ and spend some money for celebrity endorsements. At the very least, it could save a few relationships!

Who would we like to see (or, rather, hear) in GTA IV? How about Mass Effect voice contributor and total cutie Seth Green? Leave your pics here!

Ricky Gervais is in the game, playing himself, although he may not be too popular here in the US, any true fan of The Office should know better.
