When news broke that
CSI hottie Gary Dourdan was slated to leave the show, we all mourned the impending loss of brooding, muscle-bound Warrick Brown. But with his recent drug possession arrest, it may just be time for the actor to leave his pill-popping, hot-tempered, gambling-addicted character behind.
TMZ was the first to break the story, reporting Dourdan was arrested in Palm Springs, California on Monday morning on charges of possession of narcotics and possession of dangerous drugs. The actor was found at 5:12 a.m. asleep in his car, which was parked on the wrong side of the road.
According to police, a search of the vehicle turned up “suspected cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, miscellaneous prescription drugs and paraphernalia.” The arresting officer described the actor as groggy and disoriented, which could have resulted from drug or alcohol consumption. At present, no court date is scheduled for the actor, who was released at 10:30 a.m. Monday on $5,000 bail.
No connection is being drawn between the recent drug arrest and Dourdan’s decision not to renew his contract with the original CSI series, which has been on air since 2000. But the actor’s long list of volatile public appearances, which includes camera-smashing run-ins with the paparazzi, motorcycle stunts and a tough-guy attitude, could have had something to do with his departure from the show.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor was willing to follow the lead of co-star Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle), who also recently left the show, by remaining open to reprising his Warrick Brown role in guest appearances after his contract expires. His recent arrest may put a kibosh on those plans.
Another theory surrounding Dourdan’s shocking arrest is that the actor was one of many stars who attended the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, a notorious event for celebs gone wild. Although it’s not confirmed that the actor was actually in attendance, it could partially explain his groggy condition and his possession of illegal substances.
It also hasn’t been confirmed whether Dourdan is being questioned in the disappearance of Pink Floyd’s inflatable pig…
