Trace Cyrus, the heavily tattooed, emo-haired black sheep of the Cyrus family, has just released a second single with his band Metro Station. Could it be that half-sis Miley Cyrus’ recent publicity is actually helping Trace in his career?
Caught on video at TMZ, Trace was reluctant to give any insight into the scandals of his younger sibling, choosing instead to focus on his own endeavors – unsurprisingly, he was more interested in talking about the success of his new single ‘Shake It’ than in commenting on his half-naked half-sister.
Trace and Miley have the same Mom, so despite the fact that both he and stepdad Billy Ray sport ridiculous hairdos, the 19-year-old doesn’t have a Cyrus gene in his body. But why deny a good thing when you’ve got it?
We think Trace is a little too hasty in stepping away from the spotlight on the antics of his freshly scrubbed family. Working the bad apple angle in a bushel of shiny, perfect MacIntoshes could give his band some awesome press. We respect his right to go his own route, but Trace will be hard-pressed to escape the roll-off attention from his mainstream pop princess sibling anyway – why not shake what your sister gave ya?
Metro Station is actually a decent band, and Trace could easily steal a portion of Miley’s fan base with the right attention. There’s a gaggle of self-discovering teens out there just waiting to trade in their perky polo shirts for ripped T’s and facial piercings. So to Trace, we say take the attention Miley’s sparked and work it to your advantage – heaven knows we are! And to our readers, we say check out Metro Station’s video below. We’re happy to throw Trace a little press of his own.
