While reps still claim Jessica and boyfriend / Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo are “absolutely still together,” and Jess herself has recently denied a breakup, the blog-o-sphere has it straight from a friend of Tony’s that the two are way past 4th quarter.

“They’re broken up,” the friend stated, in possibly the fewest words possible. “He told us they broke up and that was that. We’re guys so we didn’t talk about it much.” (We assume instead they cracked open a brewsky together and patted each other on the butt or something. That’s what guys do, right?)

If it is true that the two are no more - and let’s face it, we knew the whole buff football player / perky blonde cheerleader match could never work beyond high school - we’re wondering who Jess will take to her little sister’s big day.

Ex-hubby Nick has yet to ditch his rebound Vanessa Manillo, and John Mayer is far too busy snogging with Jennifer Aniston to give Jess a call. It will have to be someone new – any guesses? To bad there’s no more Madden twins, they seem to be the answer for blondes looking for love.

Whoever he is, he’d better be the marryin’ type – Jessica has been quoted all over, including in Glamour Magazine and on Extra, as saying she sees another walk down the aisle in her future, as well as some little babies before long.

True she was talking about her relationship with Romo at the time, so her perspective may have changed a little since then...

But if we have any advice for Jess, it’s that she shouldn’t try too hard to hold onto Tony if it just isn’t working. There are plenty other chicken – oops, we mean fish! – in the sea and she shouldn’t try to force it.

She may have to fly solo this time, but with a little luck she’ll have a date for Ashlee’s second wedding!
