It’s no surprise that Brad Pitt and Angelina topped Forbes’ 2008 Power List, ranking the top celebrities based on money and fame, but there were some surprising names on the list this year – primarily Lauren Conrad and Miley Cyrus.
While Miley’s appearance on the list (she came in at No. 35) comes as less of a surprise than the Hills star, Lauren Conrad, we’re surprised to see either of the leading ladies on the Power List this year.
The most shocking part of Miley’s accomplishments is her age. We’re not surprised to see the 15-year-old’s name on the list considering all the work she’s been doing lately.
Between her show, Hannah Montana, her Best of Both Worlds concert tour and her knack for creating controversy (need we mention the series of racy photos?), there’s no doubt that the name Miley Cyrus has made its way onto the Hollywood scene with a vengeance this year.
But where does Lauren Conrad fit in to all of this?
There’s no denying that Lauren Conrad has been extremely successful since her days on Laguna Beach, but could the Hills starlet really make the top 100 list of rich and famous celebs? It appears so.
Lauren secured her spot on the list at No. 97.
Between her reality TV show spin-off and her new gig as a fashion designer, LC has proven that hard work in Hollywood can pay off big.
Now we know how she can afford all those Chanel handbags and Prada purses.
But who secured the No. 1 position on the coveted list?
Oprah Winfrey, who else? The incredibly rich talk show host took top spot this year, making a whopping $275 million. Even J.K. Rowling, the biggest earner on the list with $300 million couldn’t beat Big O out of the top spot.
Miley and Lauren have a long way to go before they hit No. 1.
