Jamie Lynn Spears baby update: The safe arrival of a 7 lb. 11 oz. baby girl, Maddie Briann, has been confirmed by a source close to the family, and baby, mom and dad Casey Aldridge are all said to be doing great.

Yup, that’s the good news. Baby girl’s teeny-bopper parents named her Maddie Briann, a perfectly normal moniker when compared to her parents' first rumored selections – namely, a mish-mash of their own names, Jamie Lynn and Casey.

Cassie? Cailynn?

Jamie Lynn must have already been doped up on pain meds when that idea came up. We’re glad they opted for Maddie. In fact, Cheetos to Britney Spears as well for her sane baby name choices. Jayden James, Sean Preston, and now little Maddie Briann – those all sound like celebrity baby names that aren’t destined to appear on a VH1 Behind the Scenes special on screwed up celeb offspring, 10 years down the road.

Casey and Jamie Lynn are said to be thrilled about the arrival of their little one, and reports say that Britney Spears has flown home to visit her little sis in the nearby McComb, Mississippi hospital.

The birth of her new little niece could be a great for Britney to really get her act together and take some time out of the spotlight. As for Jamie Lynn, we think she’s going to be a great mom and will skip right over any of the drama Britney has encountered. What do you think?
