Miley Cyrus is on the cover of Billboard Magazine’s new issue, but something seems a little off - oh wait we know! She didn’t snap the pic herself while air-kissing a horny member of the opposite sex. What’s up with that?
Oh, we kid. And only because Miley seems to have finally put her racy photo scandals behind her and is focusing more on her career goals and ambitions than her past caught-on-camera indiscretions.
In an interview in Billboard Magazine, amidst the wholesome “gosh-darn” expounditures we expect from our fresh-faced Southern Disney darling, Miley spoke on everything from her upcoming album to trying to be a role model for young girls.
Sounding off on the Vanity Fair incident, she said, “I was embarrassed…but also, it’s like, every career thing that I do can’t be perfect, and sometimes my decisions are wrong.”
In her opinion, the scandals only made her more relatable to her fans, and she said “I don’t think people will look at me any differently because they’re like, ‘You know what, I’m going to do stupid stuff too, and I’m going to make mistakes and that’s fine.”
Well Miley, we do see your point. But actually, we did think a teeny-tiny bit worse of you after your half-clad Vanity Fair shot and subsequent denial of responsibility. It’s just that we’re willing to forgive you because you’re so gosh darn cute, and because you’re right – sometimes people do screw up.
As for the future, Miley’s got a new album forthcoming that she calls much more “grown-up” than Meet Miley Cyrus, her last release. She also plans to continue with her Hannah Montana show, and may opt to venture out from the Disney nest when the time is right to do an edgier film. But for now she’s happy where she is and is giving “120%” to her current projects.
And on being a role model, and the things she’s done along the way that have pegged her as a bad one, Miley only says, “It’s something that I’ve been super blessed with, that I’ve had the opportunity and the ability to spread the light. That doesn’t mean that I’m not going to make mistakes and do things that everyone’s not going to be happy with, because there’s no such thing as perfection.
“I just like to be the role model that doesn’t say you have to be perfect all the time.”
Let’s see: Between the number of “like”s and uses of “super” as a modifier in her interview, along with her tenacious attitude and her ability to look on the bright side, we think Miley is pretty much on par with the average teenager and is handling life in the industry extremely well for someone her age. She shows no signs of letting Hollywood bring her down the way Britney did, which is the real blessing.
In fact, we’re super sure Miley's going to be just fine, and that makes us happy!
