There’s no doubt that The Dark Night Sequel would have been successful regardless of this year’s unfortunate incident with Heath Ledger, but has the actor’s death made this movie more of a phenomenon than it ever could have been, had he not passed away during filming?

Hundreds of thousands of movie-goers turned out for last night’s overnight screenings of the hit movie and everyone is giving the film two thumbs up.

And while critics claim that Christopher Nolan’s sequel is “nothing short of brilliant,” a significant amount of the success (in our opinion) is largely in part to Heath Ledger’s role as The Joker.

Immediately following Heath’s unfortunate incident in January, headlines all over every magazine and newspaper across the nation speculated that his role as The Joker played a key role in his death.

Some stories claimed that Heath was “too into his role” as the joker, ultimately making him crazy, while others suggested that the 29-year-old father was simply over-worked and unable sleep or function properly without the assistance of over-the-counter medication.

His death – and his role as The Joker – created a phenomenon before the movie was even finished filming.

The movie is receiving so much hype because of the tragic incident that took the life of one of Hollywood’s most promising actors. Individuals who have never cared to see a Batman movie before are suddenly interested in going to see the amazing actor play in his final role. So lets give credit where credit is due:

Christopher Nolan created an incredibly brililant movie. Heath Ledger fulfilled the role as The Joker better than anyone ever has.

Heath Ledger's final film will be remembered for years to come. Perhaps this year's tragic incident, in some strange way, made Heath's dreams as an actor come true.
