Britney Spears stole the spotlight at last night’s MTV Video Awards, taking home a whopping three awards for her hit Piece of Me.

Brit-Brit, who had been nominated 16 times but never taken home gold, made her way back onto the same stage where she flopped last year to accept three out of the three awards she was nominated for this year.

But besides taking home awards for Female Video of the Year, Pop Video of the Year and Video of the Year, the formerly troubled singer made headlines for her back-to-Britney appearance.

Ms. Spears looked like a ray of sunshine last night, sparkling in a silver mini dress and natural makeup. Even her hair looked phenomenal, with her signature long blonde locks twisted into loose ringlets.

And while Britney managed to thank her dedicated fans after every award she took home last night, her family (particularly her two sons Sean Preston and Jayden James) were not far from her thoughts.

The pop icon thanked her “two beautiful sons” during her first acceptance speech, given on the same stage that Sarah Silverman referred to the two boys as mistakes just over a year ago.

A lot can change in one year.

We’re extremely happy for Britney. Not only did she look amazing last night but she accepted her awards with the grace, style and sophistication we’ve been waiting to see for over a year.

Next year, we want to see a performance!
