From the sidelines of The Hills to the spotlight of The City, does fashionista Whitney Port have what it takes to make her mark on the fashion industry?

For four seasons Whitney Port has been working closely with Lauren Conrad as MTV cameras chronicled their lives as aspiring fashion designers in the hit series The Hills. And while the success of the show has already landed the hardworking girls exclusive fashion lines, the two continue to climb the ladder to heights of success like legendary designers like Donatella Versace and Yves Saint Laurent.

Whitney, the vivacious blonde who seemed somewhat naive at times, has now become the focus of MTV’s newest reality show, The City, where she moves from LA to New York to work for world renowned designer Diane Von Furstenberg.

The much anticipated series premiere airs tonight at 10pm on MTV (following the series premiere of another Hills alum, Brody Jenner’s new show Bromance).

The City promises lots of drama – with new girls like Whitney’s friend (and well-known socialite) Olivia Palermo (photo above right) and familiar boys like Whitney’s new boyfriend Jay Lyon (photographed with Whitney above).

But the big question still remains: Will The City earn as much success as The Hills – or will viewers be disappointed and bored with Whitney in the leading role?
