Barack Obama Inauguration and Martin Luther King Jr. Day Show Promise for America!

Events of this week will undoubtedly become some of the most memorable moments in American history and some of the most influential moments in the future of the country.

Not only is today Martin Luther King Jr. Day but it is also one day before the inauguration of the first black President of America, Barack Obama.

Over 45 years ago, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I have a dream speech” and this week, as we inaugurate the first African American President, we remember the influence and power Martin Luther King Jr. had (and still has) on ending racial segregation and discrimination in America and across the globe.

Martin Luther King Jr. Barack Obama

In a time when the economic state of America is unknown, it shows true promise that citizens of the United States have put their faith in a black President in hopes of a better future.

This week, celebrations for Barack Obama will take place all over the United States. Highly influential artists like Beyonce and Bruce Springsteen will perform at the inaugural celebration and stars like Queen Latifah and Rosario Dawson will party at the kid’s inaugural concert.

This week, citizens of America will come together to celebrate the future of their country and the beginning of a time when all people are treated equally, regardless of their skin color, backgrounds, financial status or gender.

We’ve come a long way in the past 45 years but we still have a long way to go. Electing Barack Obama into Presidency promises a brighter future for America.

Martin Luther King Jr. would be proud.
