Yesterday we reported on the tragic situation of Brazilian model Mariana Bridi da Costa, who had underwent amputation of her hands and feet (and had part of her stomach removed) after being diagnosed with septicaemia earlier this month.

Mariana, who fell ill in late December and was misdiagnosed with kidney stones initially, fought hard in the hospital for the last 3 weeks but died in hospital early this morning.

2 weeks ago, doctors gave the Brazilian beauty 24 hours to live.

Friends and family were hopeful after Bridi managed to hang in a few more weeks, but knew that the odds of survival were low.

The tragic story of this courageous 20-year-old woman has touched the lives of many.
