The 2009 SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards kicked off last night and, as with every other prestigious event in Hollywood, the red carpet specials stole the show.

While the awards show itself was so mind-numbingly boring I actually had to shut it off, the red carpet arrivals were something to talk about.

Best Dressed at the 2009 SAG Awards:

There were several ladies who worked it on the red carpet this year. And, much like the Golden Globe Red Carpet, there are many more best-dressed stars to report than worst dressed. Some of the award-winning outfits at the 2009 SAGs belonged to Eva Longoria, who donned a peach floor-length gown that accentuated her petite frame and Christina Applegate who spiced things up in a bold green off-the-shoulder gown and silver jewelry.

By far, the two best dressed fashionistas on the red carpet last night were Penelope Cruz who, like always, looked stunning in a classic black floor-length gown and Jennifer Morrison who appeared angelic in a flowy off-white gown and silver jewelry.

Other honourable mentions on the best dressed list go to Kyra Sedgewick, Rosario Dawson, Samantha Harris and Julie Benz.

Worst Dressed at the 2009 SAG Awards:

And while the majority of the women looked drop dead gorgeous last night, you can always count on a few ladies to spoil the night. Awards for worst dressed (not that they should be awarded for their outrageous choices) go to Angelina Jolie, who wore a long blue gown that did not do justice for her smokin’ hot figure, America Ferrera, who looked like she stole her dress right out of a dumpster in the back alley and Emily Blunt, who looked like the female version of the tin man, in a tacky silver floor length gown and slicked-back hair.

Nicolette Sheridan also gets an honourable mention for worst dressed last night, showing off a sky blue, one-sleeve number that looked like it belonged on a 7-year-old girl at her annual dance recital.
