I thought Kris was good but was certain that Adam would win. I believe that he should have. Actually, I attempted to vote for Adam about 15 minutes last night and got no response on two of his call in numbers. The third number was busy> Did any one else have the same problem?

Incredibly happy with the results!!!  Adam made me a little nervous....no doubt he was a great performer  and really knew how to play to the audience, but Adam has also been trying to make it as an artist as he's been living in LA for a while now.  This was the break that he needed and he will be an successful artist.  Kris on the other hand is so humble and genuine and really grew into his own throughout this competition - all of this on top of the fact that he has an amazing voice.  I LOVE hearing him sing!  I'm SOOO happy for him!!!  YAY Kris!

You people don't know what you are doing...Another Ruben Stoddard...another Taylor Hicks...I thought you were professionals...its a popularity contest..not a singing competition. I knew the pleasant mediocrity Kris Allen was going to win - America is in many ways, culturally, a pleasant mediocrity.  An iron rule is - you must NOT be different, you must NOT be obviously superior, you must always be part of the great unwashed middle.  If you're not, a nasty bottom-feeding, vaguely resentful crowd emerges - ready to squash  anyone who is driven, ambitious, talented beyond the norm, and doesn't humble himself before the great unwashed.  Everyone - even Kris (with his everyman T-shirt and jeans)  - knows who really deserves this win.  Who can ever watch this charade of a program again?  It's a personality contest - who can best make the vast middle range comfortable - not a contest of talent or real singing ability.  This, more than anything else, strikes the death knell for AI.  Keep the boring mediocrities year after year and watch the show disappear into irrelevance.

Kris was leaps and bounds better as far as musicianship goes, i will admit that Adam can sing, and will have a good career as far as being a rocker, but Kris can sing, play the piano, play the guitar, has such a good personality and deserves that title 100% Kris is a very respectable man, and admits that anyone of those top 13 could have been up there with him, I give him my respect, and obviously so does the rest of America.

Please! Adam does not sing. He screams, and screams and screams. I'm all for the last two standing to be Allison-Danny, Allison-Kris or Kris-Danny. Adam can scream elsewhere. A little OTT & too much effort to get attention. Real art and stars do their work effortlessly, and with a dash of soul. Adam lacks 2 out of these 3 aspects. Yay!! Kris!!! :-))) Perhaps Adam will be spokesperson for Maybelline Eyeliner. Obviously, audience voted for Kris to be the better singer, performer and undeniably star. Way to go.

Kris is a very nice guy, with a pleasant voice, but a complete mediocrity.  You can blather all you like about his "everyman" personality, but he's a monumental yawn.  He'll supply pleasant background music for a while, and then settle down with all the other middle-of-the-road singers - probably first album selling well - and then, in the end,  indistinguishable from all the rest.

Anyone who thinks Adam is better, IS someone who needs to take music lessons. He definitely has pipes, don't get me wrong, but it was his image that made everyone love him, not his voice. Tell me what type of music adam would sing? HMMM? I can't think of any music I would listen to thats all screaming. Kris had a fantastic voice and he was amazing. I think he deserved the win. In the end they all land record deals anyways so why does it matter? I can't wait to hear Kris Allen's new stuff though! I CAN wait for Adam Lamberts:)

To comment on what "Lee" typed....I wouldn't exactly call Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood (who won Entertainer of the Year this year) and David Cook

"mediocre". Their record sales say it all.  Yes Adam is a good singer IF you like his type of music.  Apparently America PREFERS the voice of Kris Allen.  So Kris....I know you will make all of us proud and a big THANK YOU to all of us who have supported the "mediocre" singers!!

Anyone who says that all Lambert does is scream is simply uninformed.  Suggest they listen to his studio recordings (particularly "Feelin' Good) and go to www.thebestarts.com/adamlambert - there one can find his previous idol recordings at Upright Cabaret, including the most beautiful version of "I Can't Make You Love Me" around.  Allen can't remotely compare.  He remains a pleasant mediocrity.

yes, adam has a better range blah blah blah but think about it this way: who would you rather listen to on the radio in the car and who would you want to go see on stage? kris's career will continue in a recording studio and adam's will continue on a stage. i don't even like the show but everyone who cares is annoying.

Truly Chris deserves this. His humble attitude added to his awesome voice. Adam was a little to crazy for me. He is nice and has a very powerful voice but i dont think it is one for this competition. I am really a Danny fan too and i thought he would win but since he didnt make it down to the two i preferred Chris rather than Adam. Good job Chris! And good job Adam as well.     Wonder if the judges will ever realize that drowning certain contestants in superlatives every Tuesday is the kiss of death and builds resentment in the other contestants as well as the audience.  Adam is a rarity, but the praise they heaped on him finally did him in.  Throughout it all, he remained humble, but the backlash finally caught up with him.  What a shame..

I believe adam should have won hands down, however, if he did win he would have been stuck doing a stupid song for the next six months!!!  Now adam, who will get picked up by some GOOD record producer will do what he is good at.  Its good to know that KISS can continue even when the "Doctor" may not be able to sing anymore.

It was a great show but Kris won't even come close to how great Adam is going to be. Personally I think; and do so every year, that the judges have something to do with who's picked. They had to figure that adam is set, like steve perry set, and kris needed a break. Personally Kris falls into that jason mraz one hit song in the pop charts and forget about him a year later category. Sorry, bad american idol winner.

Jason Mraz is not a one hit wonder. Please. Nothing wrong with Adam being gay. Plus the gender-bender thingy in him is actuall cool. That's awesome too. It's just the screaming. Yes, as someone in here said it too - rather one dimensional. That's the problem. Gay or Straight - a good singer is a good singer. Kris is both eye-candy and a great singer.

I was disappointed that Kris won. I don't like to listen to Adam's screaming. But he''s got an incredible voice and delivery without the screaming. Adam has a great future ahead of him! I hope Adam makes at least 1 CD without the screaming.

What's with people saying Adam screams?  Have you heard his version of "Mad World" or "Track Of My Tears"?  I'm disappointed Adam didn't win but if not Adam, I'm glad it's Kris.  

I still believe that American Idol is not represented equally since most people who watch and (more importantly)vote come from Middle America and I guess they're still stuck with country music and the nice, straight boy next door type.  Also, people don't like Adam because they don't like the fact that the judges kept complimenting him.  The contestant has to be the "underdog."  It doesn't matter if who they're voting for isn't really the best as long as they can "stick it to the man."  Although, Kris' state of Arkansas really made it happen for him, 38 million votes came from there, if you can believe the report floating out there.

It has happened in previous years on American Idol, that the underdog has won, but this time! Oh my God! How could this have happened? Adam Lambert not winning would have shocked the most people. I was really so sad and could not speak for a while. No doubt Chris was very good, but so was Danny. Talking about Adam, I would just like to say that there has never been a contestant like him ever on American Idol, and he had to win, Hands Down. Anyway, everyone knows Adam is going to do better than Chris in his music career in the future.
