Jon and Kate Gosselin Speak Out About Season 5 Premiere!

Tonight is the highly anticipated premiere of TLC’s hit reality TV show Jon and Kate Plus 8, but will the tension between the Gosselins and the controversy surrounding their loyalty to one another make Season 5 their last?

It’s safe to say that speculation of infidelity (on behalf of both Jon and Kate) has gained a significant amount of publicity for the show over the past few months but will the negative publicity have a negative impact on ratings – or just the opposite?

From the 2-minute sneak peak of tonight’s premiere, it seems as though Jon is fairly torn up about the whole situation while Kate seems to be more focused on her makeup, clothes and fake tan than anything else.

While the two are interviewed separately for the first time (by choice, not conflicting schedules), Jon sits on one side of the couch with his arm around the spot where Kate usually sits. Meanwhile, Kate sits in the middle of the couch, propped up by a bunch of pillows like a little princess. It doesn’t seem like Kate cares if Jon ever comes back.

It was very clear from the Season 4 finale that Jon didn’t want to continue on with the show but it’s now very clear that Kate’s incessant need for money and fame took over (again) and has left them right in the middle of a media frenzy.

Jon has tried to speak out surrounding their off-screen turmoil, telling the cameras “The world isn't about ratings and TV. It's about happiness and love ... and family and God.”

Maybe someone should remind Kate. In between interviews and signings for her world book tour, her countless interviews with major networks like CBS and ABC (while Jon was at home with the kids) and just her fame and money-whoring in general, we can’t imagine there’s much time for her 8 children – let alone her husband.

We’re not sure what to think of the scandals surrounding Jon and Kate Gosselin. We’ll definitely watch the premiere tonight (mostly out of curiosity) but if the show starts to focus too much on Jon and Kate’s marital problems and not the 8 adorable kids, then we’re going to have to call it quits.

TLC has been airing non-stop marathons of Jon and Kate Plus 8 for the past few days and will continue today until the premiere kicks off at 9pm.
Will you watch tonight’s Season 5 Premiere of Jon and Kate Plus 8?

I'd like to see more articles like this one, only focused more on the exploitation of these children.  Their lives have never been normal, and they never will be if this show continues.  I feel for those kids.  Their every private moment has been filmed for everyone to see.  The older girls probably catch hell at school.  Can you imagine, being a child and having cameras up in your face all the time?  These kids never look happy.  Ever.

I think it's also important that the sister in law, Aunt Jodi, and her husband (Kate's brother Kevin) be heard.  They have some videos up on radaronline.com.  It exposes how the show was always fake and these people are not just living their lives which the cameras happen to catch.  The show has always been a lie.  Others have also come forward with the real truth about Kate and how horrible she is.

I don't care much whether these two idiots have cheated on each other.  I just want those kids to have a chance at normal lives.  I don't see it happening if people keep watching this show and not telling TLC how they feel about the whole child exploitation thing.  New laws need to be enacted to protect children in reality tv.  California has the Coogan laws and PA should take notice and make laws to protect the children as well as the money they are making.  Remember, this is a family "job" as per Kate's own words.  If they are working, those kids are working too.  and they are working without any pay or protection from their greedy parents.

This show needs to end.

I will watch Jon and Kate, but, I am disappointed to see them break the high ideals they once gave  Americian couples about family and spouses being first.

You can definately see they are on two different pages, I loved Kate until she became this really unsharing totally self-centered person. It doesn't seem like a real love for her kids, just what she can give them. They may remember the stuff--then they will remember Mom and Dad and how Mom dominated and was all about materials. You don't see them cuddle as a family or any demonstrativeness between Mom and Dad, makes for a kinda cold existance, what a pity for the 8.

I love the show.

But their personal lives as a family are more important.

They need to stop doing the show and deal with them as a family!!!

Kate, I was never a fan of yours but my heart went out to you tonight. You see the mistakes but don't know how to fix them. I appears Jon has made up his mind he's through, which is so sad. My husband and I had so many issues during the first seven years we were married, but we kept trying and 24  years later we are very happy. Life is not perfect. There is no Ozzie and Harriet marriage in real life. Even Desi and Lucy counldn't make a go of it. But if you want it to really work-it will. Jon may think life with someone else will be easier but the issues that are making him uphappy will still be there. Better to keep the family together and keep trying. Kate, never forget, if you don't take care of your man, someone else will. He is your first concern, even above the kids. Best of luck.

They both need to step back and get off camera for a while and just be with each other...and the kids without having to perform for the camera. You can see it on air the shallowness of it...meanwhile the kids are just getting older. Let them be a family privately, Jon's right.

No I didn't watch and I have removed TLC from my line up.  There is no way I think the destruction of the souls and minds of 8 minor children is entertainment.  Kate Gosselin is worse then Octomom.  She's been conning churches and women's groups for years with her bs and getting applauded for her "parenting" when she's never cared for those children on her own ever.  The minute they had the money for her to be at home she hit the road without her husband and spends weeks alone with her bodyguard.  Why does she need a body guard when venues have their own security.  If she needs someone to help her carry her purse she should have a female assistant.  She's greedy, lies for no reason (that crock about being on bed rest for 30 weeks), and immoral.

TLC and Figure 8 are as guilty as Kate.  For the love of money they all are in bed together and have no shame about destroying innocent children.  Now to drag them all over the world and call it reality tv.  It's all a sham in the money chasing game for Kate's delusions and TLCs desire to claim some rating share.

Aunt Jodi is now concerned about the kids being exploited.  But was she when she wanted to be paid for being on Jon and Kate before she was ousted from the show?  She doesn't seem too credible to me.

I have watched Jon and Kate plus 8 since its initial season and I have always thought that Kate was way too wrapped up in herself NOT her kids and certainly NOT her husband to be able to sustain a healthy marriage.  Jon should pack his bags and get away from that crazy, control-freak and develop a world for him and his precious children that does not include this self-centered woman who would humiliate him on national TV every chance she could.  I used to admire her for her, but the way she talks to poor Jon makes me so mad.  He's a really nice guy who deserves better than that Celebrity wannabe shrew Kate.

Just take the stupid show off already! I'm sick and tired of hearing about Kate and all her possessions, fake tan & jet-setting. I doubt she's having an affair with the bodyguard. He'd be absolutely nuts to get involved with her and take on those 8 kids! Why does she need a bodyguard anyway? She's NOT a movie star or will that be the next thing she does? Ha ha. She could play the lead in "Taming of the Shrew" or "Mommie Dearest." I wonder how the kids will feel as they get older being shown sitting on a potty for the world to see?
