Jon and Kate Gosselin have a big announcement to make on tonight’s surprise episode of TLC’s hit show Jon and Kate Plus 8 but the real news was released just minutes ago.

While fans wait anxiously for tonight’s episode to air, reports that divorce papers have already been filed for the couple (who have been married 10 years), have already been confirmed.

PEOPLE.com is exclusively reporting that court papers confirming a separation between Jon and Kate Gosselin were filed in Pennsylvania Monday afternoon.

Loyal fans of the show may not be surprised of the news – the couple hasn’t been seen together in weeks and hasn’t been seen sharing an intimate moment together in months – but that doesn’t mean there’s no sadness to this not-so-fairytale ending.

They may have millions of dollars and more fame than most of us will ever dream of but that won’t help mend the broken family of 10.

Whether this is the only announcement during tonight’s big show has yet to be determined but many are speculating that the show will come to an end.

We’ve watched the show from the beginning but we’re sick of seeing this poor family break apart. Besides, TLC already has another family with Sextuplets lined up – but how many people really want to watch another family crumble?

Update: On June 22nd 2009 it was confirmed on the show Jon and Kate Plus 8 that Jon and Kate Gosselin filed papers in a Pennsylvania court, terminating their 10 year marriage. The show will continue with each parent filming with the children at different times.
