It’s official – Avril Lavigne and husband Deryck Whibley have called it quits on their three year marriage.

According to Lavigne’s blog “I am grateful for our time together, and I am grateful and blessed for our remaining friendship. I admire Deryck and have a great amount of respect for him. He is the most amazing person I know, and I love him with all my heart. Deryck and I are separating and moving forward on a positive note.”

Rumors have been circulating for months that the marriage was on its last leg, and we now know those rumors were true. According to sources, Whibley “is crushed” by Avril’s decision.

The couple married in 2006 when Avril was 21, Deryck 26. Certainly not the first young couple to part ways after tying the knot and most definitely not the first public break-up in Hollywood – I think we’re all surprised it lasted that long!
