Taylor Swift is officially the biggest and most popular musical artist on the planet right now – and she proved it to everyone during last night’s American Music Awards. The 19-year-old superstar took home a whopping 5 AMAs last night, including Artist of the Year. 

But winning the coveted title of Artist of the Year is an even bigger deal this year than it has been any year in the past. Taylor not only beat out incredibly successful artists like Lady Gaga and Eminem but the curly-haired cutie also beat out Michael Jackson.

In addition to the big award of the night, Swift (who was accepting her awards via satellite as she practiced for her upcoming concert at Wembley Stadium in London) also took home gold for Favorite Pop/Rock Female, Favorite Country Female, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favorite Country Music Album. Unbelievable!

We’re pretty sure the force that is Taylor Swift will continue to strengthen over the next few months and we can expect this multi-talented artist to win big at the 2010 Grammys. Must be an amazing feeling to be 19-years and beat out Michael Jackson for the top award at the AMAs. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving and more respectable (in our opinion).
