The People’s Choice Awards are always the first big event of the year and are known to set the stage for some of the most prestigious awards shows in Hollywood.

Last night, some of Tinsel Town’s hottest stars were awarded for their talent but today we’re handing out some awards of our own. Every year we make our picks for best and worst dressed on the People’s Choice red carpet and this year is no exception.

Best Dressed at the 2010 People’s Choice Awards:

While many stars lit up the red carpet last night, it was Hollywood’s young starlets that really stole the show. 20-year-old country songstress Taylor Swift is kicking off the New Year in style in this figure-flattering white number while Demi Lovato also chose a short blue dress to show off her glam gams. Other notable fashionistas rocking the red carpet last night include Ginnifer Goodwin, Olivia Wilde and newly-engaged Carrie Underwood.

Worst Dressed at the 2010 People’s Choice Awards:

While some stars decided to welcome the New Year with style and grace, others kicked off the new decade with less-than-impressive style choices. Jessica Alba is trying a little too hard to show off her toned figure in this too-short-for TV dress while Mariah Carey also chose the “I-think-I-look-good-so-I-don’t-have-to-be-comfortable” look that she could barely move in. News flash ladies, you’re not comfortable AND you don’t look good. Other style-challenged stars on the red carpet last night include Gossip Girl’s Kelly Rutherford, Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger and The Proposal star Sandra Bullock (who we love, by the way).
