If it was anyone but her, this would be a frowned-upon situation. If your 15-year-old daughter brought home some 22-year-old artist, most parents would probably do everything in their power to stop it. A girl that young, regardless of her success, rarely has the maturity to handle a relationship with someone nearly 10 years her senior. It's not up to her to "know better" at that age, but the guy should be extremely cautious.

If this is the case, she has all the right to be with whomever she wants to be, if the parents are on board with this. However for the backup dancer, don't go doing anything with her other than dating. In this country, you will end up ostracized for life for having any sexual contact with a minor. 20/20 did an interesting piece on the Age of Consent a few months ago that is a must watch for parents of teenagers. So many sad stories of men and women who are now pariahas due to the actions that they did when they were kids or young adults (age range 13-21).

Miley Cyrus is in the end Miley Cyrus, not Britney, Lindsey or any other teen actress. Will she avoid the pitfalls that some of these other ladies have gone thru? Only time will tell.

seriously though -yes, she's 15. She's also very wealthy, pretty cute and will be 18 in 3 years. If she wants to date a 22 y/o and if he's willing to wait until she's 18 to do anything, then what the hell is the problem? I mean, this is really between her, her father, and this guy.

If he molests her, he's guilty of a crime. Hell, even with conseusual sex he's guilty in most states. But in a few states, Miley is only 1 year away from being "legal" sexually...

Not long ago in this country 13 was considered the age of consent. Jews are believed to be adults at 13 as well. The average lifespan was around 40 and by 15, women had 2-3 kids back in the day, so the modern attitude towards sexuality is woefully twisted - because at 13 a kid can see a movie with violence, blood, gore and foul language, but they can't see or do anything sexual until 18. No wonder we have an extremely violent country.

Not that I'm advocating having sex with 15 y/o girls, but I'm hardly shocked, and in this case there's no evidence of anything other than a borderline inappropriate friendship. And if Miley's father is ok with whatever it is that's going on, then so should we be.

the biggest crime here is the media circling like sharks, waiting for this little girl to take any slight mis-step so that they can tear her to shreds. Leave her alone already - stop trying to create the next Brittney for your own selfish gain, you leeches.

I was always attracted to older guys too... I just think that she should wait until she is an adult before she gets too serious with anyone much older then herself. It is easy to be naive when you are younger. It isnt that long to wait either. Guys typically take a longer time to mature too. Sorry guys! But of course she wouldn't, thanks to her parents Trish and Billy Ray. They have NO backbone with their daughter. They need to stand up to her like a REAL parent would, and just... take everything away from her. If I was her parent (I'm more likely to put a gun to my head first), I'd take away EVERYTHING from her. I'd make her give me her iPhone, TV, and everything else. I'd watch her delete her MySpace account, and then I would install a filter on her computer so she could only access educational websites. But her computer would be in a room where it could be monitered at all times.

And if she STILL managed to act like a ***, I'd take away all of her furniture except for a matress, a pillow, and a set of sheets. Then, when she would be filming her show or whatnot, I'd go into her closet, put ALL of the clothing she owned into boxes, tape them up, and either donate them or put them in storage somewhere so she wouldn't have access to it. Then, I'd go out, and buy her uniform style clothes. I'd probably buy her 5 polos (In colors like black, grey, tan, white, and pale yellow), a white and black undershirt for the polos, uniform style pants or capris (Again, in black, grey, tan, white, and pale yellow), 1 pair of white tennis shoes, and 1 pair of white flats. She could only wear the clothes I'd buy her, and if I caught her wearing anything besides those clothes, she would recieve further punishment.

Does this sound extreme? Not to me. And for the record, I'm pretty much the same age as her, so don't give me a bunch of crap about how, "I'm just too old and don't understand".

Parents need to get strict with their kids. And kids need to suck it up. Case CLOSED.

I'm sorry, but I do believe that just about every marriage in the US, and possibly world wide.. Has a age gap. These things start somewhere. And, I don't see Miley Cyrus running around about your life, getting every single peice of dirt on you just to bash you online. Lay off.

Not to mention, studies have proven that girls mature 3 to 6 years before guys even begin to mature. She is an extremely mature girl for her age, and dating a guy his age probably just perfectly fills that gap of maturity. I guarantee if she were to date a guy her age, or a few years older.. She'd be miserable because he's not mature. I've been through many the immature.

I'm am EXTREMELY happy with my boyfriend now - 21 and I'm sixteen.

That's five years.. As guys get older, they suddenly become more attractive than the younger guys.

Lesson being :

Maybe if you younger guys around her age, or say my age, would grow up.. This wouldn't be a controversy.

I am 28yo and my parents were married in the 60's. She was 15 and he was 24. She was not pregnant and they waited 15 years to have me. I think that different people mature at different ages. My father certainly wasn't a perv and they were married for nearly 40 years before he passed away.
