Tonight's Golden Globe Awards will honor the best of the best in TV and films of 2006. The Golden Globe Awards are known as the predictor of Oscar nominations and are some of the most prestigious awards in the entertainment industry. Some of the top categories include best actor in a motion picture, best actress in a motion picture, best motion picture - drama and best motion picture - musical or comedy.

In addition, some of the best TV shows have their chance for worldwide acknowledgement including new hits like "Heroes" and "Ugly Betty". While many new shows are added to this year's nomination list, it's expected that old favorites like "Grey's Anatomy" and "Desperate Housewives" will continue to take home the gold.

Unpredictable has always been a word used to describe the Golden Globe Awards. Unlike the People's Choice Awards which aired last week, the Golden Globe winners are not notified in advance which heightens the level of excitement and anticipation when the winners are announced. The unpredictability of this awards show even goes as far as to nominate the  highly controversial movie "Borat - Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" for best motion picture - musical or comedy.

While the awards are fascinating, statistics show that more viewers tune into the red carpet pre-show than they do the actual awards show. Some of the latest fashion and most breathtaking gowns are featured on the red carpet. Expect to see ravishing gowns from ultra-sexy celebrities like Eva Longoria, Reese Witherspoon, Felicity Huffman, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Aniston and more.
