Dita Von Teese, the "Queen of Burlesque," is set to perform her famous champagne glass strip tease at this year's Fashion Cares event in Toronto on May 12. Dita is a darling of the fashion world, and is a regular party fixture at high profile fashion events for designers like Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin, Roland Mouret, Chopard, and Louis Vuitton.
With her retro inspired style and vintage look, Von Teese is a modern day pin up girl with tons of sex appeal and her show will definitely be one of the highlights at Fashion Cares.
The theme for Fashion Cares this year is "Peep," with the spirit of the event being "watch or be watched". The evening promises to be a sumptuous and decadant spectacle of corsets, lingerie, and retro glamour.
Fashion Cares is the most highly anticipated event in the world of Canadian fashion; the extravaganza includes a gala dinner, fashion show, and first class entertainment. This year the roster includes the evening's host, Jay Manuel, and performers Kelly Rowland, Mya, Bedouin Soundclash, and of course, Dita Von Teese.
Fashionistas can check out the live and silent auctions and the Fashion Cares Boutique - everything from one-of-a-kind works, to home fixtures and gift certificates are up for grabs.
This year, Fashion Cares is being held in the Distillery Historic District and fashion lovers are encouraged to come out in costume to indulge in the world of pin up and forbidden fantasy.
Fashion Cares is an annual benefit for the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) and tickets are $1,000 for the Gala, $175 for general admission, and $75 for the afterparty at the Koolhaus in Toronto. To purchase tickets call Ticketmaster at 416-870-8000 or go to www.ticketmaster.ca.
