New York Fashion Week started on Friday and was highly anticipated by thousands and thousands of fashion enthusiasts in the United States and surrounding areas. Kenneth Cole usually opens the show with his incredible runway designs but this year, BCBG Max Azria is the big designer to look for. The event is one of the most popular cultural events in New York and some of the hottest celebrities were at the front of the scene.
Carmen Electra and Kelly Rowland were sitting front row for BCBG Max Azria's incredible runway show. As well, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce and Jay-Z kicked off the week-long event last Thrusday with energetic performances of their incredible hits. Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Fergie and The Black Eyed Peas and The Pussycat Dolls all performed in their sexiest ensembles.
Some of the other designers set to display their latest lines include Prada, Kenneth Cole and many, many others.
Most of this years styles feature hip-hop inspired designs like t hose of Beyonce, Jay-Z, Kayne West an P.Diddy. Neutral colors like sand, beige and multiple tones of brown are the most popular colors this season. British-esque designs are also said to be extremely popular this season.

Well, it's that time of the year again, the 31st edition of the Toronto Film Festival gets underway today and is expected to be one of the biggest social events of the year. This festival has been one of Canada's biggest and most popular events for many years now, attracting some of the world's hottest celebrities, film-makers and industry insiders. People come from all over the world to participate in the events, party and have a good time.
Some of the stars expected to attend this year's event include Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Reese Witherspoon and more. The festival is known as a screening event for this winter's most popular films. More importantly, Canadians have the opportunity to meet international superstars.
Like any other festival, wardrobes are one of the biggest aspects of the event. This event allows individuals to show off their unique sense of style. Unlike awards shows and premieres, the film festival veers away from floor length gowns and provides an opportunity for the celebrities to show off some of their own unique style. The MTV Video Music Awards aired last week on MTV were a huge hit among audiences. Tons of high-energy performances, fashion from all over the world and prestigious awards made for an amazing night. Some of the top performances included Fergie's "London Bridge" hit where she strolled down the red carpet after being drawn to the scene with a horse and carriage. Other performers included the 50's inspired Christina Aguilera with a soulful rendition of her new single "hurt", Beyonce who performed an ultra-sexy performance of her new single "Ring the Alarm" and Justin Timberlake who stunned audiences with his energic new song "Sexy Back."
The MVA best dressed award goes to the Pussycat Dolls were wearing revealing, but still sexy, outfits to tease the guys. Each girls was in a slightly different oufit, whether the color was a bit different or the cut (much like the styles of Destiny's Child when they were still together).
There were a number of women who could've taken home the night's worst dressed award. Fergie looked overly provocative while performing. Her Britney Spears' inspired school-girl outfit was a little too provocative for most people. The was she strutted down the red carpet was more than enough to make fiance, Josh Duhamel, embarassed.
Hit music icons Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera also showed their lack of taste when it comes to their MVA outfits. Christina's super-glittery gown was enough to send someone into a seizure while Jennifer Lopez chose to cover up completely with a horrible gray mini-dress and a matching hat or head wrap (or whatever you want to call it).
 
Overall, from a fashion perspective, this year's MVA's were a disappointment. All the money they have and yet some of them still can't look attractive!

The MTV Video Music Awards are set to air tonight at 8:30 and will feature some of the hottest, best dressed celebrities in the world. Some of the nominees for viewers choice include Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna, Fall Out Boy, Chakira, Chris Brown and more. There's no doubt that there will be tons of celebrities, dressed to the nines and ready to party. Celebrities set to perform at this years MVAs include Christina Aguilera, The All-American Rejects, Ludacris featuring Pharell WIlliams, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Panic! at the Disco, the Killers and many more.
If you're looking for other fashionable celebrities at the MVAs, you'll be happy to hear that this years presenters are hot hot hot. Celebrities expected to present include Nick Lachey, Jessica Simpson (although, I highly doubt they will be presenting together - awkward?), Jennifer Lopez, Missy Elliot, Fall Out Boy, Rihanna, Lil' John, Jared Leto and many, many others.
To top of the already-action-packed night, the show will be hosted by "Nacho Libre" star Jack Black who has become a huge hit among men and women alike. The show promises to be a spectacular night filled with great fashion, hot celebrities and amazing music. Be sure to watch the MVAs, tonight at 8:30 on MTV.

What I can't figure out is how women spend hours among hours and thousands of dollars on their Emmy outfits and still leave the house looking like they were dressed by a 90 year old, blind woman. Some of the less-than-impressive choices from the 2006 Emmy Awards include gowns worn by Sandra Oh, Paula Abdul, Lisa Kudrow and Virgina Madsen.
While the best dressed celebrities were recognized for their flattering silhouettes that focused more on the behind than they they did on the chest, the worst dressed celebrities chose gowns that were unflattering, boring and just plain weird.
Sandra Oh, who has been recognized as worst dressed on more than one occasion, has managed to maintain consistency this year by hitting the worst dressed list, once again. Her shredded Vera Wang gown was a disgrace to the label and a poor choice for the Grey's Anatomy star.
Virginia Madsen's less-than-flattering, funeral-like dress was a sure way to land herself on the worst dressed list. The gown did not flatter her curves and looked like it belonged on a 75 year old - sorry Virginia!
Likewise, Lisa Kudrow's black, funeral like gown was the most boring of all the designs. She looked like she was going to a familiy barbeque, not one of the most prestigious awards shows on TV.
To finish off the night, Paula Abdul, who looks like she's had some work done on her face, needed some work done on her outfit selection. Her floral, maternity-like gown was extremely tacky and an unexpected for a woman who is generally very glamorous.

Well, it's that time of the year again - the Primetime Emmy Awards are set to air this Sunday (August 27th) on NBC. The Emmy's are one of the most prestigious awards shows (up there with the Oscars, Grammys and Golden Globes), honoring the best of the best in prime time television. Perhaps more important than the awards is the red carpet (which is actually expected to be a purple carpet, this year) pre-show! The 2 hour pre-show airs at 6 o'clock on Star and will feature the stars and their incredible fashion choices.
Entertainment Tonight has the inside scoop on who will be attending the world renowned event and the details on who will be wearing what. So far, its been said that Desperate Housewives star Alfre Woodard will be wearing Pamela Rowland in a dark hue and Will & Grace star Megan Mullally will be wearing something with long sleeves.
The annual event, held in Shrine Auditorium and hosted by Conan O'Brien is expected to be viewed by millions of people all over the world. Some of the expected stars to attend include Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Paris Hilton, Wentworth Miller, Nicole Richie, Salma Hayek and Lance Bass. Paris Hilton has officially landed herself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. Unlike most celebrities who are recognized for their accomplishments in acting, singing and directing, Paris is being recognized as the most over-rated celebrity. Congratulations Paris, what an honor that must be!
Sources say the hotel heiress landed herself a place in this world renowned book through a number of magazine polls. Apparently "The Simple Life" star's name just kept popping up again and again. Some of the poll topics included "which celebrity do you dislike the most" and "who is the most overrated celebrity"? Paris, who is constantly putting herself in the public eye, has yet to comment on her recognition but I'm sure she will think its an honor just to be recognized, regardless of the reason - poor girl!
Throughout the years, numerous celebrities have found themselves in the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2004, Maddona was recognized as having the highest earnings for a female singer. The Rock also gained himself a spot in the infamous book by being the highest paid actor in a debut role for his film "The Scorpian King." These celebrities, unlike Paris Hilton, are being recognized for their actual accomplishments - not for being dislike and underappreciated for what they do.

Everyone always wants to know what the hottest trend of the year is going to be. Well I think it’s safe to say that safari prints have become the single largest trend of 2006. Celebrities are wearing safari print from head to toe. What used to be the type of clothing you would only wear on Halloween has become a significant part of everyday wardrobes.
4 Ways to Incorporate Safari Prints into your Wardrobe
1. Head Gear – There are a number of head bands, hair bands and bandanas with safari prints. Head gear is a great way to add a little safari fun into your wardrobe without overdoing it. A subtle hit of style can make a huge difference in your image.
2. Tops – There are a number of ways to incorporate safari prints into your tops. First, you could use a safari print tank or tee under a solid colored camisole. This is generally the best idea because too much of this print can look tacky. Other ways are wearing a safari tank overtop of a solid print tank. This will also maintain the balance of solid patterns to safari prints.
3. Bottoms – Safari bottoms are available in the form of pants, capris and skirts. Safari print pants, although chosen by some, are a little over-the-top. You want to incorporate the print into your wardrobe, not camouflage yourself into the jungle. A printed skirt you could get away with, although I would suggest pairing it with a solid print top.
4. Shoes – Shoes are by far the best way to incorporate the safari print into your wardrobe. Shoes add just enough print to make your outfit look trendy without making it look like you’re trying too hard to fit in.

After months and months of preparation, the Miss Universe contestants were ready to take on one another last Monday night for the ultimate crowning of Miss Universe 2006. The pageant, like always, was filled with fun, fashion and fierce woman all competing for the same title. The best part of the pageant is the watching what the women wear. From the swimsuit competition to their unbelievably gorgeous evening gowns, the women were dressed head to toe in stunning pieces.
The Hottest Bikini Body
There were a number of hot bikinis for the girls to choose from. Each one of the pencil-thin women rocked their bathing suits and looked absolutely phenomenal. Puerto Rico clearly had the best beach bod and was one of the definite show-stoppers in this part of the competition. Perfectly toned and perfectly proportionate, Puerto Rico didn’t look too thin like some of the other contestants.
Her Stunning Evening Gown
Hands down, Puerto Rico definitely had my vote for best evening gown. The chains were a really different alternative to some of the other, more basic, dresses worn by some of the women. Puerto Rico’s silver, thigh high dress was a hit with the judges and the audience. Puerto Rico was a fan-favorite since the very beginning of the competition.
The Shocking Ending
Just after she was crowned as 2006’s Miss Universe, Puerto Rico fainted. Shocking to everyone, most people’s first guess was lack of food. The tiny model assured everyone that she had fainted because her evening gown was too heavy and that it was definitely not because of lack of food. She claims she eats six meals a day and talks with her nutritionist on a regular basis. I agree with her, that dress looked like it weighed enough to knock someone off their feet.
An Honorable Mention Goes to…
Miss USA definitely deserves an honorable mention for wearing her stunning evening gown which was made by one of the contestants on Heidi Klum’s “Project Runway.” The gown was very pretty, although it looked like it was somewhat difficult to walk in.

- Oversized Purses – Celebrities like oversized things. I haven’t figured out whether it’s because they actually like the looks of the accessories or because the bigger they are, the more important they feel. Either way, an oversized handbag is an essential addition in any celebrity wardrobe.
- Long Necklaces – Long necklaces are the newest and hottest trend in Hollywood. The longer they are the better. Most celebrities like to wear multiple necklaces at one time.

Cartier, one of the fashion industry’s most respected designers, has decided to share his success (and wealth) in order to benefit a number of different charities. Cartier recently released a hot new bracelet called the Cartier Love Charity Bracelet, an extension of the original Love Bracelet from the 1960’s. This incredibly unique idea has become extremely popular with a number of celebrities all over the world.
Basically, Cartier has designed a very simple, elegant and trendy bracelet design. The designs were originally popular in 1969 and have become even more popular since their recent re-release. Each design is sold in selected boutiques around the world for approximately $450. Cartier will donate $100 from each bracelet sold to the charity of the corresponding color rope.

Okay, so I’m all for celebrities and their attempt to “give back” to the world but what’s the deal with some of these charities? I mean, some of them are great and I would be more than willing to contribute my hard earned money for the causes but some of them seem somewhat ridiculous.
Seriously, of all the charities in the world to choose from, can someone please explain to me why the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television is a charity in dire need of my money? And what about the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust? Okay, maybe some people want to contribute but is it really necessary to dedicate one of the only 8 charities in the program to this cause? I don’t think so!
Maybe I’m just being ridiculous but if I was going to launch a charity bracelet like the one shown above, I think I would have chosen better charities than some of the ones they’ve chosen…what do you think?
